"EL OTRO", una reflexión sobre el problema de la comunicación

La idea básica de mi trabajo era el problema de la comunicación entre las personas. En primer lugar, me decidí por dibujar dos figuras sin rostro, diferentes en posición y color y sin embargo ambas, figuras humanas.

Uno lejos del otro. ¿Qué les separa? Concretamente me vino la idea de "el otro", un viejo dilema en la historia humana. ¿Cuál es la diferencia? Conceptos, palabras, el código de comunicación creado por nosotros para describir lo que "creemos" la realidad.

Entonces, dibujé una especie de muro hecho de ladrillos de palabras, una muralla construida por nosotros no obstante. La paradoja es que algunas palabras se repiten pero en diferentes idiomas. Olvidamos que estamos hablando de lo mismo aunque utilizando un lenguaje diferente, un código diferente.

Pero si vemos más allá de eso, podemos observar que "el otro" es un reflejo del "yo"; por ello dibujé un esquema de los mismos personajes mirándose en un espejo y tocándose uno al otro en un espacio de silencio.

Usé el carboncillo porque es más rápido y de esta manera pude seguir con mi mano las imágenes que surgían de mi mente. Entonces me decidí por la pluma a la hora de diseñar la pared y las palabras, porque la plumilla está directamente relacionada con la escritura (las palabras) y su rastro fino da una idea de algo casi intocable e invisible y a pesar de ello, representa "el verdadero mundo material".

La obra es un símbolo de mi reflexión sobre el aislamiento del ser humano en una sociedad donde el silencio es evitado y a veces temido y de hecho es en el "espacio de silencio", donde nos encontramos como un todo, ningún nombre, sin ningún concepto que nos separe.

Finalmente he preferido utilizar sólo dos colores: negro y rojo porque demasiados colores  habrían desviado la vista del observador a demasiados elementos de la idea principal.

The basic idea of my work was the problem of communication among people. First, I decided to draw two faceless figures, different in position and colour and yet both, human figures.

One turning away from the other. What is separating them? Currently it came to me the idea of “the other”, which has been an old dilemma in human history. What makes the difference? Concepts, words, the communication code created by us to describe what we “believe” the reality.

Then, I draw a kind of wall made of bricks of words, a wall built by us however. The paradox is that some words are repeated but in different languages. We forget that we are talking about the same thing although we are using a different language, a different code.

But if we look beyond that, we could see that “the other” is a reflection of “myself”; therefore I sketched the same personages staring at a mirror and touching to one another in a space of silent.

I used the graphite because is faster and in this way I could follow with my hand the images that were emerging from my mind. Then I chose the fountain pen to design the wall and the words because the fountain pen is directly connected with words and its fine trace gives an idea of something almost untouchable and invisible, abstract and despite that, representing “the real material and definite world”.

The work is a symbol of my reflection on the isolation of the human being in a society where silence is avoided and sometimes feared and in fact is in the “space of silent” where we can find ourselves as a one as a whole, no name, no concept to separate us.

Finally I preferred to use only two colors: black and red because a colorful work would have derived the sight of the observer to too many elements deviating him to the principal idea.
